From the traditional mums and asters to evergreens that offer season-long foliage, autumn is a great time for planting. Today our employees show off some of their fall favorites.
Nat is ready to help people find just the right evergreens for their yard and gardens.
Les and Ashlee happily pose behind the native button bush, which has white flowers in the summer and red seed heads in the fall.
Dave knows his trees, and he loves Heptacodium for fall interest. This tree is commonly called the seven sons flower, and it’s one of the few trees that flowers in the fall. Heptacodium also has peeling bark, so it’s a great small tree for multi-season interest.
The traditional fall mums please Nancy. We have them in small, medium and large pots, plus some in hanging baskets.
Nan clearly likes the grasses! From this annual, purple fountain grss to the lime-green millets, grasses are perfect for fall containers.
Danielle shows off the autumnal shades of coleus, which pairs well with grasses and mums. And by the way, coleus is pretty easy to over-winter indoors. Just keep it by a bright window and water regularly.
Black flowers for Halloween? Funny you should ask…Christina shows off the petunias that are a rich raven black.
Okay, it’s not a plant, but Lex reminds us that we’re well stocked with firewood. Get yours for those end-of-summer gatherings around the firepit, or for warming your house on the first chilly evenings this fall.
Me? I’m thrilled to see that the fresh herbs have arrived. If your herb or vegetable garden needs replenishing, come in for parsley and basil.
