At this time of year it often feels like spring just can’t come fast enough. Fortunately, we can cheer ourselves up with indoor plants that are blooming, fragrant, or both. Here are just a few of the commonly found fragrant plants that are sure to lift your spirits out of the winter doldrums.

There are several types of Jasmine that are highly fragrant, including this winter jasmine that flowers after the New Year.

Gardenias are a popular fragrant plant. They like high humidity so place them in your more humid spaces such as a kitchen, or use a humidifier in the room where it’s growing.

All of the citrus have fragrant flowers that will scent an entire room on a sunny winter day. Look for meyer lemons, calamondin citrus or limes and you’ll have perfume and fruit.

Lavender has fragrant foliage even when it isn’t flowering. Place this in a sunny window and be sure to touch the leaves as you pass by to release some instant aromatherapy.
